As a General Legal Advisor within our Risk Management division, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our audit, advisory, and tax & legal business units by delivering sound legal guidance and ensuring compliance with South African regulations.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

You will be responsible for providing proactive, high-quality legal support and managing key legal functions:

Legal Advisory

• Offer expert legal advice to internal stakeholders on a variety of matters.

• Ensure business alignment with KPMG policies, legal frameworks, and regulatory obligations.

Contract Management

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including NDAs, service level agreements, and client engagement contracts.

• Review Requests for Proposals/Quotations and provide guidance to service teams on associated legal risks and considerations.

Risk & Compliance

• Support the Quality and Risk Management team on legal and compliance risks.

• Mitigate exposure by ensuring proper legal procedures and due diligence are followed.

Project & Integration Support

• Assist with One Africa and Southern Africa integration initiatives and ad hoc legal projects as needed.

• Deliver efficient and scalable legal services in a dynamic, fast-paced professional services environment.

What You Need to Succeed

Minimum Requirements

• LLB degree (Bachelor of Laws)

• Admitted Attorney in South Africa

• 2–3 years’ post-admission experience in a legal/compliance environment

• Strong background in corporate and commercial law

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and other Office applications

Key Skills & Attributes

• Excellent legal drafting and research skills

• Strong understanding of the South African legal and regulatory landscape

• High attention to detail with exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Ability to communicate legal concepts clearly and effectively to both legal and non-legal stakeholders

• Team-oriented with the ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines

• Adaptability and eagerness to engage in a multi-national, cross-functional environment
