Shell is seeking an experienced Government Relations Adviser to join its Corporate Relations team in Bryanston. This strategic position is ideal for a professional with a passion for public policy, energy development, and impactful engagement with government and regulatory bodies. π What Youβll Do
As the Government Relations Adviser, youβll support Shellβs business success by creating and delivering optimal business value while elevating Shellβs reputation in the eyes of government stakeholders.
β Key Responsibilities:
β Build and maintain credibility with key government departments and stakeholders
β Support on advocacy strategies that influence energy and climate policies
β Develop business advocacy plans that align with Shellβs Powering Progress Strategy
β Track and analyze policy developments and regulatory risks
β Create platforms to promote Shellβs energy vision
β Facilitate strong stakeholder dialogue with government, Think Tanks, and the private sector
β Engage at national, provincial, and local government levels for non-operated and owned assets
β Ensure adherence to government transparency standards and Shellβs internal codes
β Advise global Shell teams on developments in South African policy
β Provide strategic insight for Shellβs local and regional corporate relations plans
π§ What Weβre Looking For
π Qualifications & Experience:
β Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Politics, Business Management, or related
β 8+ years of experience across business, government, or external relations
β Strong communication (verbal & written) and influencing skills
β Understanding of governance frameworks, public policy, and energy markets
β Capacity to work with complexity and manage multiple stakeholder relationships
β Experience in crisis and issues management is advantageous
