🚀 What You’ll Do

As the Government Relations Adviser, you’ll support Shell’s business success by creating and delivering optimal business value while elevating Shell’s reputation in the eyes of government stakeholders.

✅ Key Responsibilities:

✔ Build and maintain credibility with key government departments and stakeholders
✔ Support on advocacy strategies that influence energy and climate policies
✔ Develop business advocacy plans that align with Shell’s Powering Progress Strategy
✔ Track and analyze policy developments and regulatory risks
✔ Create platforms to promote Shell’s energy vision
✔ Facilitate strong stakeholder dialogue with government, Think Tanks, and the private sector
✔ Engage at national, provincial, and local government levels for non-operated and owned assets
✔ Ensure adherence to government transparency standards and Shell’s internal codes
✔ Advise global Shell teams on developments in South African policy
✔ Provide strategic insight for Shell’s local and regional corporate relations plans

🧠 What We’re Looking For

🎓 Qualifications & Experience:

✔ Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Politics, Business Management, or related
✔ 8+ years of experience across business, government, or external relations
✔ Strong communication (verbal & written) and influencing skills
✔ Understanding of governance frameworks, public policy, and energy markets
✔ Capacity to work with complexity and manage multiple stakeholder relationships
✔ Experience in crisis and issues management is advantageous
