Role Overview
Afrimat is looking for a Gradings Clerk to join their Peak Quarry team in Krugersdorp. This role involves overseeing and reporting on the quality control process of materials produced in the quarry. If you have experience working in a mining environment, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to safety, this is the perfect opportunity to enhance your career.
As a Gradings Clerk, you will ensure that materials meet required specifications, perform regular inspections, and maintain the high standards of the quarry’s operations. You will be working in a fast-paced environment where safety and precision are paramount.
Key Responsibilities
📝 Quality Control – Inspect materials for weight, temperature, grades, moisture content, and quantities to ensure they meet industry standards.
🔬 Sample Collection and Preparation – Collect samples of materials from the quarry and prepare them for lab testing.
⚖️ Reporting – Interpret lab test results according to COTO specifications and report any irregularities or issues to the superiors.
🛠️ Maintenance of Equipment – Ensure sampling machinery and tools are kept clean and in good working condition. Make necessary repairs when required.
📊 Health & Safety Compliance – Adhere to all health and safety guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
📈 Independence and Accuracy – Conduct tasks independently and with a high level of accuracy, ensuring results are documented and communicated effectively.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
🔹 Grade 12 certificate
🔹 Valid Driver’s License
🔹 Experience working at a remote mining site and in a cross-cultural environment
🔹 In-depth knowledge of SANS 3001 testing methods and the ability to interpret results according to COTO specifications
🔹 Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
🔹 Ability to function independently and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
🔹 Previous experience with material inspection and quality control processes is preferred
