Job Overview

The Graduate Internship Programme 2026/2027 is a structured youth development initiative offering unemployed graduates residing in the Western Cape the opportunity to gain practical workplace experience. Interns will be placed in various provincial departments for 3 to 24 months, gaining exposure, skills, and professional references to enhance future employability.

On-the-job training will be provided in one of the following departments:

  • Police Oversight & Community Safety

  • Cultural Affairs & Sport

  • Department of the Premier

  • Economic Development & Tourism

  • Environmental Affairs & Development Planning

  • Department of Infrastructure

  • Local Government

  • Mobility Department

  • Provincial Treasury

  • Social Development


Qualifications

Education

You must have completed one of the following:

  • Certificate (NQF Level 5)

  • Diploma (NQF Level 6)

  • Degree (NQF Level 7)

  • Postgraduate Qualification (NQF Level 8 or higher)

Eligibility / Experience

  • South African citizen

  • Resident of the Western Cape

  • Aged 20โ€“35 years

  • Unemployed

  • Desire to gain practical work experience

Skills

  • Good written and verbal communication skills (minimum two official Western Cape languages)

  • Computer literacy (MS Office)

  • Ability to operate office equipment

  • Planning and organising skills
