Job Overview

Pacific International Insurance is looking for a Group Accountant to prepare, consolidate, and report financial results across multiple group entities. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with IFRS and statutory requirements, maintain strong internal controls, and provide valuable insights to support strategic decision-making.

This role offers the flexibility to work remotely or from the company’s offices in George, Western Cape.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Consolidation

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements.
  • Ensure all financial reports comply with IFRS standards.
  • Perform intercompany reconciliations.
  • Compile group management accounts with detailed analysis and commentary.

Statutory and Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, the Companies Act, and other relevant regulations.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual financial statements.
  • Coordinate and support external audits.

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Support the preparation and consolidation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Conduct variance analysis and report on financial performance.
  • Assist with long-term financial planning.

Financial Controls and Process Improvement

  • Maintain and improve internal financial controls.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes.
  • Support the integration of new business entities into the group.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with finance teams across subsidiary companies.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Liaise with auditors and external advisors.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Professional Requirements

  • Completion of SAICA, SAIPA, or CA articles, or equivalent.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience, including post-articles experience.
  • Previous experience in group accounting or financial consolidation.

Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and group consolidation principles.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with ERP and financial reporting systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Hyperion.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.

Advantageous Experience

  • Experience in insurance, financial services, or multinational environments.
