🌿 About the Role:

EThekwini Municipality is looking for a dedicated and experienced Horticulturist to join their Agro-Ecology team. If you’re passionate about green spaces, sustainability, and making a real impact on community environments, this is your opportunity to contribute to the development and maintenance of public recreational spaces, municipal facilities, and community gardens in one of South Africa’s most vibrant cities.

This is a hands-on role, and you will be required to work in all weather conditions and occasionally outside of normal working hours during emergencies or scheduled overtime.

🌱 Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate the development and execution of horticultural operational plans.

• Supervise and guide personnel to maintain performance and discipline standards.

• Enforce safety protocols and manage the use of machinery and materials.

• Oversee the maintenance of parks, open spaces, public leisure areas, and natural areas.

• Identify opportunities for green-space improvement and participate in related initiatives.

• Share technical knowledge with teams and communities.

• Maintain administrative records and report on operations and activities.

👷‍♂️ Physical Requirements:

This role requires an individual who is physically fit and able-bodied, as tasks are often physically demanding and performed in outdoor environments.

✅ Essential Requirements:

• National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Horticulture or a related field.

• A valid South African driver’s license.

• A minimum of 2 years relevant experience.

• Proficient in computer literacy.

🌟 Preferred Candidate Will Have:

• 3 years or more of relevant experience in horticultural or environmental projects.
