Your Role as an HR Officer (Employee Relations):

AVI Limited is looking for an experienced HR Officer (Employee Relations) to join the Field Marketing Shared Services team in Isando, Johannesburg. In this role, you will be responsible for providing HR support and managing Employee Relations across the Field Marketing coastal regions. You will ensure compliance with labour laws, handle disciplinary and grievance matters, and work closely with union representatives and management teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Employee Relations:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation such as BCEA, LRA, SDA, and OHASA.

  • Organize quarterly union and shop steward meetings, recording and distributing meeting minutes.

  • Act as the primary contact for disciplinary hearings, warnings, and CCMA matters.

  • Provide support and guidance to HR teams and line managers regarding disciplinary procedures.

  • Manage employee relations records on the SAP system.

  • Build strong relationships with trade unions, management, and HR teams.

  • Represent the business in CCMA disputes, including arbitrations and collective disputes.

  • Stay updated on Employee Relations legislation and advise management on compliance.

Projects & Campaigns Management:

  • Assist in the implementation of projects and campaigns that educate employees and minimize business risks.

  • Support the HR team in managing national Employee Relations projects and campaigns.

Human Resource Support:

  • Provide HR support for training, performance management, succession planning, and benefits administration.

  • Step in for HR Officers as required to ensure smooth operations.

Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records for disciplinary actions and CCMA cases.

  • Provide regular updates and trend analysis on Employee Relations to stakeholders.

  • Assist in HR reporting and analysis for various business regions.

What It Takes to Succeed:

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in an HR Officer or similar Employee Relations role in a corporate environment.

  • FMCG industry experience is highly preferred.

Qualifications & Certifications:

  • A completed Degree or Diploma in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or a related field is required.

  • A Degree or Diploma in National Labour Relations will be advantageous.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of Labour Laws and HR best practices.

  • Ability to work under pressure and travel across the business as needed.

  • Own transport and a valid driver’s license are required.
