Job Overview

MCI is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented HR Officer to support core human resources operations in its Cape Town office. This role focuses on payroll support, employee relations, HR compliance, onboarding, and administration while ensuring adherence to South African labour legislation.

The successful candidate will work fully onsite and collaborate closely with teams operating within United States time zones.


Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Coordinate pre-employment checks, reference verifications, and documentation

  • Support structured onboarding and induction processes for new hires

Payroll & Benefits Administration

  • Collect, validate, and submit payroll inputs including timesheets and leave data

  • Assist with payroll processing and resolution of payroll-related queries

  • Support administration of medical aid, provident fund, and UIF submissions

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records

  • Support disciplinary, grievance, and performance management processes

  • Ensure compliance with BCEA, LRA, EEA, and internal HR policies

Training & Development

  • Assist in identifying training needs and coordinating learning initiatives

  • Maintain training records and track employee development progress

HR Administration & Reporting

  • Compile HR reports on attendance, turnover, and compliance

  • Support employee wellness programs and engagement initiatives


Qualifications

Education

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an HR generalist or similar role

  • BPO or contact centre industry experience is advantageous

  • Payroll exposure will be beneficial

Skills

  • Strong administrative and organizational abilities

  • Solid knowledge of South African labour legislation

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • High level of confidentiality and professionalism

  • Proficiency in MS Office and HR information systems

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
