Job Mission
As a Human Resources Manager at Newrest, you will oversee all HR processes, ensuring efficient operations in line with both company policies and South African legislation. You will play a pivotal role in managing recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and compliance, helping foster a productive and positive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
✔ Recruitment & Hiring:
- Oversee the recruitment process from start to finish, including advertising roles, conducting interviews, and reference checks.
- Ensure job adverts are placed in various media, and internal adverts are distributed.
- Maintain a comprehensive recruitment database.
- Conduct exit interviews to gather valuable feedback from employees leaving the company.
✔ General HR Functions:
- Draft letters of appointment, job descriptions, and ensure all staff receive performance appraisals.
- Provide counseling or arrange for it when necessary.
- Monitor and update HR policies in line with company and legislative changes.
- Regularly attend Operations meetings, ensuring all HR-related matters are addressed.
✔ Compliance & Legislation:
- Ensure the company complies with current employment and labor legislation.
- Conduct criminal checks for new employees and periodically for existing staff.
- Ensure all HR reports are completed on time.
✔ Employee Engagement & Well-being:
- Implement wellness initiatives to support employee well-being.
- Plan and chair monthly departmental spokesperson meetings.
✔ Employment Equity (EE) & BEE Compliance:
- Assist with the compilation and submission of the EE reports to the Department of Labor annually.
- Chair the EE committee and organize quarterly EE meetings.
- Ensure compliance with BEE scorecard elements and assist the National HR Manager in preparing BEE verification audits.
✔ Training & Development:
- Work with the Training & Development Officer to organize training and compile online reports for SETA submissions.
- Oversee the application of learnerships and ensure accurate use of the SD module on Sage Payroll.
✔ Industrial Relations (IR):
- Collaborate with the Disciplinary Officer on performance, grievance, and IR-related issues.
- Conduct investigations into theft, disciplinary issues, and absenteeism.
- Chair disciplinary hearings and attend union meetings.
✔ Payroll Management:
- Collaborate with the Payroll Administrator to ensure timely payroll processing.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
✔ Educational Background:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- A qualification in Industrial Relations is an advantage.
✔ Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar HR role, ideally in a senior capacity.
- A driver’s license and access to your own vehicle are required.
