The Role: Human Resources Officer

As a Human Resources Officer at NBL, you will be a vital contributor to the operational effectiveness of the HR department, providing comprehensive generalist HR support within a manufacturing and unionised environment. You will support HR administration, employee relations, performance management, recruitment, and compliance, ensuring smooth HR operations aligned with company policies.


Key Responsibilities

HR Administration & Payroll:

  • Manage employee lifecycle administration: new hires, benefits, changes, leave, terminations.

  • Respond efficiently to employee and management HR queries.

  • Maintain and update organograms monthly and job profiles in the Job Profile portal.

  • Coordinate HR project deliverables, including rewards and recognition programs.

  • Ensure adherence to HR audit requirements and assist with payroll variance reconciliation.

  • Manage employee documentation such as confirmation letters, payslips, UIF, and medical aid documents.

  • Train HR administrators on time & attendance systems and support timely payroll input.

HRIS System Administration:

  • Conduct regular integrity checks on HR master data for accuracy and completeness.

  • Review system access quarterly, ensuring compliance with user roles.

  • Support SAP users, address general HRIS queries, and follow workflow processes diligently.

Performance Management:

  • Distribute and collect Individual Performance Agreements (IPAs) and maintain review checklists.

  • Capture performance ratings in SAP and follow up on missing IPA submissions to support annual salary reviews.

Learning & Development / Transformation:

  • Track training initiatives and coordinate submissions for Workplace Skills Plan, Training Report, and Employment Equity Plans.

  • Manage educational assistance, graduate programs, and learnership administration, liaising with providers and learners.

Industrial Relations:

  • Organize and support disciplinary hearings, grievance meetings, and CCMA cases.

  • Prepare documentation and assist in resolving employee relations matters in line with company policies.

Recruitment & Onboarding:

  • Oversee recruitment processes from start to finish, including shortlisting, interviewing, salary recommendations, and offer letters.

  • Manage onboarding and induction programs ensuring new hires are integrated successfully.

Employee Wellness:

  • Coordinate the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), including wellness communications and initiatives.


Minimum Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in an HR Officer role within manufacturing and unionised environments; FMCG experience preferred.

  • Qualifications: Degree or Diploma in Human Resources or Industrial Psychology.

  • Technical Skills: Proficient with SAP payroll systems (mandatory), Bestime Clocking or similar, and MS Office.

  • Knowledge: Labour legislation, HR practices, job evaluation and grading, and performance management systems.
