π About the Internship
The City of Johannesburgβs Internship Programme is tailored to provide practical training and on-the-job exposure to students and graduates who have not yet participated in any internship programme. Itβs a perfect opportunity for individuals interested in municipal management, business administration, and public service to gain valuable experience that will elevate their career prospects.
Interns will actively support the Business Management Directorate and contribute to real-time initiatives such as strategic planning, risk assessments, and compliance reporting. This role will sharpen your knowledge of local governance and administrative protocols.
π Key Responsibilities
As an intern within the Human Settlements Department, your day-to-day duties may include:

Providing administrative support to the Business Management Directorate
-
Assisting with strategic planning, monitoring & evaluation, and risk management
-
Participating in site visits and risk assessments
-
Handling and delivering confidential documents
-
Supporting the development of business plans and quarterly reports
π Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
-
Grade 12/NQF Level 4 certificate
-
A Diploma or Degree (NQF Level 6/7) in:
-
Business Management
-
Business Administration
-
Public Management
-
Public Administration
-
Or a related field
-
-
No prior internship or work experience required
-
Proficiency in English (reading and writing)
-
Basic computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft Office
πΌ Internship Duration and Stipend
-
Duration: Up to 18 months
-
Monthly Stipend:
-
R10,109.86 for graduates with a qualification of at least 120 credits
-
R3,500.00 for currently enrolled students
