Job Overview:

PEP is looking for an Imports Controller to join our team in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town. This position involves managing all aspects of import shipments, creating Documentary Letters of Credit, and ensuring smooth communication between suppliers, clearing agents, and internal departments.

Key Responsibilities:

Imports Shipments & Letters of Credit: Create and manage import shipments, ensuring documentary Letters of Credit are accurate and processed timely.
Supplier Communication: Liaise with suppliers and communicate effectively regarding any exceptions in the process.
Clearing & Forwarding Agents: Work closely with clearing agents to resolve metric exceptions and notify relevant internal departments (Merchandise, Finance, Planning).
Customs Compliance: Ensure import documentation is accurate and compliant with Customs regulations before submitting to clearing agents and banks.
Document Follow-Up: Proactively follow up with suppliers to avoid delays and ensure all documents are submitted promptly for clearance.
Pro-Forma & Order Management: Track outstanding pro-forma invoices and orders that are due for shipment.
Database Updates: Maintain and update all events and data related to shipments in the PLM database.
Shipment Tracking: Track and prioritize all import shipments, ensuring timely arrivals and updates.
Container Delivery Control: Manage the import schedule and coordinate the delivery of containers to the Distribution Center (DC).
Reports & Projects: Assist with weekly and month-end reports and contribute to special projects as required.
Office Administration: Provide general office support including filing, reporting, and email correspondence.


Job Requirements:

🎓 Educational Requirements:

  • Matric is essential.
  • An Import/Exports qualification is a plus.

🛠️ Experience & Skills:

  • Import/Export experience is highly advantageous.
  • Strong administrative skills with a fanatical attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Outlook, and G Suite is required.
