Umzimvubu Local Municipality: Internship & In-Service Training Opportunities 2025 – Kickstart Your Career

Umzimvubu Local Municipality is proud to offer an excellent opportunity for unemployed graduates and students in need of in-service training to join their internship and experiential learning programs for the 2025 academic year. As part of their commitment to youth development and skills enhancement, the municipality is providing a variety of positions designed to equip you with the practical skills and knowledge necessary for a thriving career in local government.

Available Internship Opportunities:

1. Municipal Finance Intern (1 Post)

Directorate: Budget & Treasury
Duration: 2-year fixed term contract
Stipend: R100,000 per annum
Reference: NOTICE NO: 09/2024/2025

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)

  • 3-year Degree or National Diploma in Accounting, Internal Auditing, or equivalent (Accounting III compulsory)

  • Advanced computer literacy

  • Basic knowledge of local government operations

  • Strong academic performance in related studies

Key Areas of Exposure:

  • Revenue Management

  • Supply Chain

  • Expenditure

  • Budget & Reporting

  • Asset Management


2. Human Resources Management Intern (1 Post)

Directorate: Corporate Services
Duration: 1-year fixed term contract
Stipend: R48,027.24 per annum

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)

  • 3-year Degree or National Diploma in Human Resources Management, Personnel Management, or a related field

  • Computer literacy and good communication skills

  • Knowledge of HR policies and legislation

Key Areas of Exposure:

  • Document processing

  • HR data capture

  • Leave management

  • Recordkeeping


3. Work Integrated Learning / In-Service Training (Various Posts)

Directorate: Local Economic Development & Environmental Management

Fields of Study Supported:

  • Business Management

  • Tourism

  • Agriculture

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a student from a registered institution under the Department of Higher Education & Training

  • Must have completed all theoretical modules

  • Must submit a letter from the institution confirming the need for in-service training

  • Must reside within the Umzimvubu Local Municipality’s jurisdiction (Mount Frere, KwaBhaca, Mount Ayliff – EmaXesibeni)

  • Proof of residence from a ward councillor is required
