π Role Purpose
Join one of South Africaβs leading specialist insurance providers. Guardrisk is seeking a detail-oriented Investment Accountant to manage and report on a diverse investment portfolio. This role ensures the integrity of financial records, reporting accuracy, and compliance with internal and external standards, enabling effective business decisions.
π― Key Responsibilities

Manage the full investment accounting process for Guardrisk Insurance entities (including Life and Microinsurance).

Record investment transactions accurately in the general ledger.

Prepare and review investment payments, ensuring valid supporting documentation and appropriate authorization.

Handle investment and disinvestment instructions, asset manager FICA requirements, and document retention.

Reconcile cashbook, investment, and interest accounts monthly, quarterly, and annually.

Submit Reserve Bank asset allocation reports and assist in asset spreading reconciliations.

Compile ad hoc and scheduled financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Provide portfolio servicing support, working closely with portfolio accountants and managers.

Participate in audit preparations, respond to queries, and maintain compliance with deadlines.

Contribute to system enhancements, process optimization, and continuous innovation.

Identify and resolve discrepancies, risks, or inefficiencies in investment accounting.

Ensure timely, accurate reporting in alignment with client SLAs and business needs.
π Requirements
Education:
-
Bachelorβs degree in Accounting, Investment Management, or Financial Management (required).

Honours degree or ongoing studies toward CA(SA), CIMA, CFA, or ACCA (preferred).

Completed accounting articles (advantageous).
Experience:
-
2β5 years of relevant experience in accounting and/or investments.

Experience working in insurance, financial services, or asset management (advantageous).
Technical Competencies:

Strong understanding of investment instruments and reporting principles.

Working knowledge of general ledger systems and investment portfolio management.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
