πŸ” Role Overview: IT Auditor

As an IT Auditor at Discovery, you will play a critical role in evaluating and improving the effectiveness of IT controls, risk management, and governance processes. You’ll be working across a wide spectrum of Discovery’s business areas including Health, Life, Invest, Vitality, and more. This position requires a detail-oriented professional who can contribute to both strategic initiatives and technical IT audit projects.


🎯 Key Responsibilities

πŸ”§ Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Engage with management to resolve queries and enhance the audit process.

  • Maintain and build relationships across Discovery business units and assurance providers.

  • Facilitate and evaluate IT risk profiles with inherent and residual views.

  • Challenge business inputs and provide expert insight to improve IT risk management.

πŸ–₯️ Technical Proficiency:

  • Sound knowledge in IT General Controls, Application Controls, Infrastructure, and Cybersecurity.

  • Experience with Data Analytics and CAATs (Computer-Assisted Audit Techniques) is advantageous.

  • Involvement in Project and Programme Management audit aspects.

πŸ“‹ Operational Tasks:

  • Lead and execute IT audits in line with Discovery’s internal audit methodology.

  • Draft audit planning documents (APMs), engagement letters, process flow diagrams, and RACMs.

  • Monitor audit progress, budgets, and escalate risks or delays appropriately.

  • Supervise and guide junior auditors, ensuring high-quality audit files.

  • Drive improvements through risk profiling, control reviews, and data-driven analysis.

  • Track and follow up on outstanding audit issues.

  • Submit timely progress reports to audit and risk committees.

πŸ“š Development & Training:

  • Stay abreast of industry developments and internal audit best practices.

  • Present training sessions to peers and assist with team development.

  • Participate in regular self-development activities, including internal and external courses.


πŸŽ“ Education and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Auditing, or Information Systems

  • 2+ years of IT audit experience

  • Certifications: At least one of CIA, CISA, CISM, CRISC, CGEIT

Essential Knowledge:

  • Internal Controls and COSO Framework

  • IT General Control and Application Control Reviews

  • IT Infrastructure and Cybersecurity

  • Use of CAATs or data analytics tools

Advantageous:

  • Experience in Financial Services

  • Working towards an Honours or additional relevant degree
