Job Overview

Capitec Bank is seeking a highly motivated Specialist: Information and Technology Risk to provide independent oversight, expert advice, and risk management support across the business.

This role focuses on identifying, evaluating, assessing, and treating information technology and cyber-related risks, while strengthening the organization’s risk awareness and governance culture.

The successful candidate will work closely with first-line management teams to challenge and improve IT risk controls, governance frameworks, and security practices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct IT and information risk assessments
  • Identify and evaluate cybersecurity and technology-related risks
  • Review and strengthen risk controls and mitigation strategies
  • Provide independent oversight and governance support
  • Assess compliance with risk methodologies and control frameworks
  • Improve risk awareness and culture across teams
  • Support first-line management with risk treatment plans
  • Monitor information security and data governance practices
  • Review cloud computing and data management risks
  • Ensure alignment with regulatory and industry standards

Qualifications

Education

Minimum:

  • Grade 12 / National Certificate / Vocational Qualification

Preferred:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in:
    • Risk and Compliance
    • Data Science
    • Information Technology
    • Information Security
    • Auditing

Experience

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in:
    • Risk Management
    • Internal Auditing
    • External Auditing
  • Proven experience in:
    • IT Governance
    • IT Audit
    • Information Security
  • Experience performing:
    • Risk and control assessments
    • IT risk reviews
    • Information risk management
    • Cybersecurity governance

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of:
    • IT Security
    • Cybersecurity principles
    • Cloud Computing
    • Data Management
  • Knowledge of risk frameworks such as:
    • COBIT
    • ISO
    • NIST
    • ITIL
    • COSO
    • DAMA / DM-BOK
  • Strong governance and compliance knowledge
