Role Overview
The Analyst: IT Application Support provides specialised technical support for application environments across Telkom Group. The role is responsible for analysing faults, diagnosing system issues, performing troubleshooting, conducting installations, supporting upgrades, maintaining software, and ensuring system stability through structured monitoring and documentation.
This position also includes collaborating with vendors, internal teams, and stakeholders to resolve issues, optimise performance, and maintain operational continuity across assigned applications.
Key Responsibilities
Maintained Solutions

Receive and analyse incoming faults or requests.

Resolve issues or assign them to the correct technical teams.

Apply approved change control procedures and ensure all changes are documented.
Implemented Solutions

Follow Telkom-approved processes for system roll-outs.

Perform troubleshooting and implement system interfaces.

Ensure system stability after deployment and compile required technical documentation.
Provided Support
-
Analyse support requests and determine required action.

Execute support tasks and update documentation.

Provide timely feedback to stakeholders and participate in required meetings.
Tested Solutions

Test solutions to confirm alignment with original specifications.

Identify and correct defects before implementation.

Assist in negotiating and compiling Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Coordinate customer testing, acceptance, and approvals.
Monitored Applications

Ensure all applications are monitored using approved Telkom monitoring tools (e.g., Foglight).

Validate that all necessary variables and performance indicators are captured.
Maintained Documentation

Identify documentation gaps and produce new documents when necessary.

Research, compile, update, and store documentation according to Telkom standards.

Support feasibility studies, solution evaluations, and information requests.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
-
NQF Level 6: National Diploma / 3-year Diploma in IT or related field.
Experience
-
Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in application support, systems maintenance, or technical troubleshooting.
Technical Knowledge
-
Operating Systems: UNIX, Linux, Microsoft Server environments.

Databases: Oracle, MSSQL Server.

Software: Oracle Application, IIS, MS Windows Servers.
