About the Team: Systems of Engagement – CEM
The CEM team focuses on crafting and supporting solutions that power Discovery’s Direct Sales Channel operations. This includes everything from lead generation and management to sales distribution across both direct and intermediary channels. The team is passionate, highly skilled, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where challenges fuel success.
Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain robust Java-based application software.

Analyze and troubleshoot existing applications, performing maintenance and enhancements.

Draft technical specifications and designs in collaboration with team members.

Stay ahead of tech trends and share knowledge within the team.

Contribute ideas to improve development processes and assist in implementation plans.

Conduct code reviews and ensure best practices are upheld.

Education & Experience
Minimum Requirements:

Matric/Grade 12 plus formal Java qualifications.
-
At least 3 years of Java systems development experience.

Solid understanding of Java EE and object-oriented design principles.

Proficiency in XML/XSD/JAXB and Web Services.
-
Experience with Unit testing, mocking frameworks, and industry-standard application servers (preferably WebLogic).

Strong knowledge of ORM tools (Hibernate/JPA), JMS, Tibco EMS, Oracle, and PL/SQL.
-
Experience with SOAP and JSON-based services.
Preferred:
-
IT Degree/Diploma (BSc, BTech, or similar).

Presentation layer development experience (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, GWT, Spring MVC).

Familiarity with Business Rules Management Frameworks.

Knowledge of UML and modeling tools like Enterprise Architect.

Exposure to Agile methodologies, Continuous Integration, and Test-Driven Development.
