Job Overview
The Junior Risk Analyst will be responsible for monitoring compliance with collateral management requirements, financial covenants, and conditions outlined in loan agreements and credit facilities. This role plays a critical part in mitigating financial and regulatory risk, ensuring governance standards are upheld, and supporting a seamless client experience across the transaction lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Security Risk Management

Monitor borrower performance against key financial ratios such as leverage, DSCR, and liquidity

Review borrower financial statements to confirm compliance with covenants and collateral conditions

Track financial trends and identify early warning indicators
-
Prepare internal risk reports and summaries for senior management
-
Collaborate with Credit, Legal, and Risk teams to conduct compliance checks
-
Maintain monitoring tools, trackers, and transaction milestone records
-
Support waiver and amendment processes, including internal approval workflows
-
Ensure accuracy of documentation and alignment with regulatory requirements
Client & Service Support
-
Assist with operational and transactional queries, escalating issues where required
-
Support stakeholder engagement and client interactions
-
Participate in deal forums and document operational risks
-
Ensure accurate and timely system data capture
-
Review non-financial undertakings and flag exceptions for escalation
Governance, Risk & Control
-
Ensure adherence to internal quality standards and regulatory frameworks
-
Comply with Exchange Control Regulations, Sanctions Policy, and Trade Finance standards
-
Complete mandatory compliance training and apply technical knowledge accurately
-
Escalate risks appropriately and maintain a strong control environment
-
Support business continuity management plans and management reporting
-
Maintain accurate deal information for waivers, amendments, and consents
Qualifications
Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Commerce, Banking, or Technology
-
Postgraduate qualification or MBA (NQF Level 7) is advantageous
-
Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC): Business, Commerce and Management Studies
Experience
-
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in security risk management, including collateral and covenant monitoring
-
1–3 years’ experience in trade operations or banking environments
-
Proven exposure to regulatory frameworks such as Basel III / Basel IV
-
Experience in customer-facing and stakeholder engagement roles
Skills
-
Strong banking knowledge and understanding of collateral management principles

Proficiency in financial instruments, margining, and risk management processes
-
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with financial modelling or data analysis tools

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
