Job Overview

BET Software is seeking a Junior SOC Analyst to support its 24/7 Security Operations Center. The role focuses on monitoring, analysing, and responding to cyber security events across multiple platforms.

You will work in a shift-based environment, supporting the protection of critical digital assets in a fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor and analyse cyber security events across enterprise systems.
Track network traffic to detect potential threats and escalate incidents when required.
Investigate security breaches, identify root causes, and escalate findings to intermediate analysts.
Monitor security tools including SIEM, IDS/IPS, Firewalls, WAFs, DLP, and databases.
Correlate security events and report risks to incident response teams or senior analysts.
Ensure all alerts are investigated, documented, and closed before shift handover.
Maintain and update security knowledge base documentation where required.
Monitor the performance and availability of all security monitoring tools.
Identify trends, emerging threats, and vulnerabilities using advanced analytics tools.
Conduct research on cyber security trends, tools, and threat intelligence.
Support colleagues with security software usage and information security practices.

Qualifications

Education

Matric or equivalent qualification (required).

Experience

Minimum of 1 year experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) role.
3 years’ experience in IT support or related technical roles (preferred).
Hands-on experience with SIEM, IDS/IPS, Firewalls, WAFs, and DLP solutions.

Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to interpret technical logs, alerts, and system behaviour.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Technical writing and documentation capability.
Understanding of security standards, risk management, and incident response.
Ability to multitask, work shifts, and adapt in a high-pressure environment.
Security+ certification is advantageous but not mandatory.
