🎯 About the Role

As a Lab Assistant in the Histology Department, you will provide essential technical and operational support to ensure the smooth functioning of pathology services. Your role contributes to accurate disease diagnosis and patient care by preparing biological specimens, ensuring lab cleanliness, and supporting senior laboratory personnel. 🔍 Key Responsibilities

• Accurately receive and label tissue samples for histological analysis

• Prepare and embed specimens using specialized laboratory techniques

• Maintain a sterile and organized work environment in compliance with safety protocols

• Perform basic calculations for sample measurements and reagent preparations

• Assist in conducting special staining procedures when required

• Provide clerical and administrative assistance within the department

• Report any equipment malfunctions or inconsistencies to senior staff promptly

• Uphold patient confidentiality and ethical standards at all times

• Ensure waste disposal and biohazard management protocols are followed

✅ Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this role, applicants must meet the following essential criteria:

• Matric Certificate (Grade 12)

• Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Laboratory Assistant in Histology

• Proven experience in a pathology or diagnostic laboratory environment

• Competent in handling biological samples with precision and care

• Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written)

• Capable of basic numerical calculations for sample tracking and documentation

• High level of personal integrity, reliability, and accountability
