JOB OVERVIEW
The Lead Hydrogeologist will take ownership of groundwater services within the consultancyβs mining and environmental portfolio. This senior leadership role combines technical excellence, people leadership, and strategic client engagement across international projects.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping groundwater strategy, leading multidisciplinary teams, and delivering technically complex solutions that support sustainable mining and environmental rehabilitation initiatives worldwide.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
π Leadership & Team Development

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing groundwater and hydrogeology team.

Drive technical excellence across hydrogeology, groundwater modelling, and water services.

Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture within multidisciplinary teams.
βοΈ Project Oversight & Delivery

Oversee international mining-related groundwater and environmental projects.

Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest technical standards.

Provide senior technical input to environmental assessments, rehabilitation, and water management strategies.
π€ Client & Strategic Engagement

Act as a trusted technical advisor to clients across the mining sector.

Build and maintain strong client relationships to support business growth.

Contribute to strategic planning and the expansion of groundwater services globally.
π Technical Excellence

Provide specialist hydrogeological expertise to complex projects.

Review and guide groundwater investigations, modelling outputs, and reporting.

Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental, and industry best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education
π Postgraduate degree in Hydrogeology, Water Science, Hydrology, or a related discipline.
Professional Experience
π Minimum of 8 yearsβ consulting experience, preferably within the mining sector.
π Proven experience delivering international or multi-region projects.
Skills & Registration
π§ Strong leadership and people management capabilities.
π Registered with SACNASP or an equivalent professional body.
πΌ Excellent technical, commercial, and client-facing skills.
