Job Summary:

As the Lead Technology Partner for EB Collections and Payments at Absa, you will play a critical role in shaping the technological direction and delivery of innovative solutions for our fraud management systems. You will partner with product owners, the Fraud Strategy team, and the Technology and Operations Lead Portfolio Manager to execute on the technical Book of Work (BoW) commitments, ensuring that all technical solutions are in line with organizational strategy and long-term objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

🚀 Product & Service Direction Setting, Solution Design & Performance Management

• Define the product & technical strategy alongside the CIO and business product owners (full-stack, end-to-end solutions).
• Take ownership of the senior business interface and build strong relationships with product owners.
• Ensure the delivery of solutions with a focus on risk management, avoiding outsourcing of critical components.
• Lead the design thinking practices to architect sound and scalable technical solutions.
• Collaborate with internal teams (CSO, CTO) to recommend appropriate technical solutions and strategies.
• Develop and facilitate scoping, prioritization, and integration planning across stakeholders and tech teams.
• Align solutions with Group Architecture, ensuring both short-term and long-term deployment plans.

🔧 DevOps Management & Solution Delivery

• Drive the DevOps pipeline, ensuring effective automation, continuous integration, and continuous delivery (CI/CD) strategies.
• Utilize your expertise in virtualization, containerization, and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) to optimize solution design and delivery.
• Implement automated testing frameworks to ensure scalable, resilient solutions.
• Lead development practices with a deep understanding of coding languages and complex concepts (e.g., Java, Python, Groovy).
• Coach and mentor senior developers on best practices, ensuring quality code and optimized deployments.

📅 Delivery Management

• Lead the agile delivery teams, ensuring effective deployment of products and services.
• Collaborate with transformation and change teams to ensure proper resource management.
• Ensure adherence to agile methodologies, including retrospectives, sprint routines, and ongoing product feedback.
• Actively engage with product owners to balance business needs with technical solutions.

💼 People Management & Leadership

• Set and communicate clear product and service direction across squads.
• Attract, recruit, develop, and retain top talent within technology teams.
• Foster a high-performance culture, managing resources in alignment with Absa’s strategic goals.
• Leverage coaching techniques to enhance team performance and drive excellence in solution delivery.

⚖️ Financial & Vendor Management, Risk & Governance

• Take full responsibility for risk management across the technical solution lifecycle.
• Ensure that infrastructure and product decisions align with company governance frameworks.
• Manage vendor relationships, ensuring the commercial impact is well aligned with business needs.
• Negotiate contracts and manage enterprise-level decision-making, ensuring scalability and resilience.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

✅ Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

✅ Experience:

• Proven experience in leading technology solutions with deep knowledge in DevOps, cloud technologies, and software development.
• At least 5-7 years of experience in a similar leadership role, with strong expertise in architecture, vendor management, and technical strategy.

✅ Skills & Competencies:

• Strong expertise in full-stack solution delivery (front-end, back-end, and integration).
• Extensive knowledge of Agile methodologies, with experience leading cross-functional teams.
• Expertise in containerization, virtualization, AWS, Azure, and cloud-based technologies.
• Solid understanding of security principles, automation frameworks, and CI/CD tools.
• Ability to guide and mentor teams in technical competencies and best practices.
