About the Role
Discovery is seeking a dynamic Learning and Development Manager to lead a skilled team within the Discovery Institute of Training. This role focuses on designing, developing, and delivering impactful leadership and core soft skills programs across multiple formats—classroom, virtual, and digital learning. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in building organisational capability, ensuring learning initiatives align closely with Discovery’s strategic goals and performance priorities.
Key Responsibilities

Learning Strategy Development:
Develop and implement a comprehensive learning strategy targeting leadership and core soft skills aligned with business objectives and talent priorities. -
Programme Design & Delivery Oversight:
Oversee end-to-end design, development, and execution of high-quality learning programs tailored to different roles and levels, utilizing in-person workshops, virtual sessions, and digital platforms. -
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of Learning and Development Specialists to foster innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement in learning facilitation and design. -
Stakeholder Engagement:
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and business leaders to identify learning needs, gather feedback, and ensure training delivers measurable business value. -
Evaluation & Impact Measurement:
Implement evaluation metrics based on methodologies like the 6Ds to measure the effectiveness of learning programs and demonstrate their impact on individual and organisational performance. -
Learning Innovation & Digital Integration:
Champion new learning technologies including microlearning, gamification, blended learning, and AI-driven tools to enhance engagement and scalability. -
Governance & Compliance:
Ensure all learning interventions comply with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and align with Discovery’s learning frameworks. -
Budget & Resource Management:
Manage the learning budget and resources, ensuring optimal allocation for maximum program impact.

Experience & Qualifications

Experience:
8–10 years in Learning and Development, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial role. Proven experience in leadership and soft skills program design and delivery in a large corporate setting. Strong background in digital and in-person learning solutions. Experience in applying learning impact frameworks (6Ds, Kirkpatrick). Proficiency with LMS, virtual platforms, and AI tools. -
Qualifications:
Formal qualification in Human Resources, Learning & Development, Organisational Psychology, Education, or related fields. Continuous professional development in leadership and training facilitation is essential. Postgraduate qualifications and certifications in learning impact methodologies and AI tools are advantageous.
