JOB OVERVIEW

STADIO Higher Education invites applications for a Lecturer in Law to be based at its Centurion campus. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, assessment, research, and academic administration, with a primary focus on Private Law and/or Mercantile Law. This role requires a committed academic who can deliver high-quality education across contact and distance learning modes while contributing to research and institutional development.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate lectures in Private Law and/or Mercantile Law

  • Design, assess, moderate, and mark assignments and examination scripts

  • Conduct academic administration and other delegated academic duties

  • Engage in scholarly research and contribute to academic outputs

  • Use the Learning Management System (Canvas) effectively for teaching and assessment

  • Participate in curriculum development and quality assurance processes

  • Support students through consultation and academic guidance

  • Teach across multiple learning modes, including online and contact learning

  • Perform duties outside normal working hours when required


QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Minimum requirement: South African LLM degree in Law or a closely related field

  • Advantageous: LLD / PhD (Law) or currently pursuing one

Experience

  • Relevant lecturing experience in higher education

  • Teaching experience in Private Law and/or Mercantile Law

  • Basic but demonstrable academic research track record

Skills & Knowledge

  • Proficiency in Canvas or similar learning management systems

  • Strong working knowledge of legal research databases (Sabinet, JutaStat, LexisNexis)

  • Sound understanding of higher education teaching and learning practices

  • Computer literacy and strong e-learning capability

  • Excellent written, verbal, and academic communication skills
