🎯 Role Responsibilities
As a Lecturer, you’ll play a vital role in:
-
Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in linguistics, communication, and/or media studies
-
Supervising research and mentoring postgraduate students
-
Enhancing the department’s research profile and academic networks
-
Contributing to curriculum development and teaching innovation
-
Coordinating modules and serving on departmental/faculty committees
-
Engaging in community outreach in line with UWC’s strategic goals
✅ Minimum Requirements
-
Master’s Degree in Linguistics or Applied Linguistics with specialization in Communication and/or Media Studies
-
At least 1 publication in an accredited journal or equivalent research output
-
Experience in hybrid teaching (face-to-face and online modes)
-
Up-to-date knowledge of media trends and communication platforms
➕ Recommendations (Strongly Preferred)
-
PhD (or enrolled) in Linguistics/Applied Linguistics/African Languages
-
Proficiency in or ability to work with African languages (including Afrikaans)
-
Demonstrated knowledge of linguistics, communication, and/or critical media studies
