The Faculty of Education at NWU’s Potchefstroom Campus is currently seeking a qualified academic to fill a Lecturer position within the School of Natural Science in Education, with a focus on Geography and Environmental Education.


🎯 Role Purpose

The Lecturer will support undergraduate and postgraduate students through face-to-face and distance learning in Geography and Environmental Education. This role requires a balanced contribution to teaching, research, and community engagement, while actively developing academic material and participating in faculty-led projects.


πŸ“ Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate undergraduate & postgraduate modules in Geography/Environmental Education

  • Deliver both contact and distance learning formats

  • Supervise postgraduate research projects

  • Develop study material and manage online learning platforms (LMS)

  • Publish research articles, chapters, or books

  • Participate in an NWU-approved research entity

  • Lead or contribute to community engagement projects and services


βœ… Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree (M.Ed/MSc/MA) in Geography, Geography Education, or Environmental Education (NQF level 9)

  • PGCE or B.Ed specializing in Geography or Environmental Education

  • B.Ed Honours or BA/BSc Honours in Geography or Environmental Education

  • Minimum 2 years teaching experience in Geography (FET Phase: Grades 10–12)

  • Valid registration with SACE

The total annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment and aligned with NWU’s policy guidelines.
