London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) is recruiting an experienced Legal Counsel to support its Data & Analytics businesses across the EMEA region. This senior-level role is suited to a commercially focused contracts lawyer who thrives in fast-paced, international environments and brings a pragmatic, solution-driven approach to legal advisory work.
The successful candidate will act as a trusted legal partner to sales, partnerships, and proposition teams, providing hands-on legal guidance across a wide range of complex commercial matters. This role requires strong drafting and negotiation capability, sound judgement, and the ability to balance customer needs with the organisationβs legal, regulatory, and commercial interests.
βοΈ Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic and day-to-day legal advice to sales, partnerships, and product teams across EMEA

Draft, review, revise, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including data licences, software licences, master service agreements, and product terms

Advise on legal matters related to data, content, and news collection, usage, and licensing from multiple sources

Respond to internal legal queries relating to litigation, regulatory issues, intellectual property, privacy, and data misuse

Maintain, update, and improve standard contract templates and support contract integration following acquisitions

Identify legal risks and exposures, escalating matters where appropriate and implementing proactive mitigation strategies

Support the implementation of internal legal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and corporate standards

Oversee adherence to contractual obligations and ethical requirements across the business

Collaborate closely with senior legal colleagues and cross-functional stakeholders across regions
π Qualifications

Law degree or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution

Admission as a legal practitioner or equivalent professional standing

Fluency in English is essential

French and/or German language skills are advantageous

Proven experience handling a broad range of commercial legal matters

Prior experience in a top-tier law firm, data vendor, financial institution, or multinational organisation is advantageous
