π§© JOB OVERVIEW
The Department invites applications for the Legal Services Internship Programme 2026, aimed at providing unemployed law graduates with practical workplace exposure within a government legal environment. The internship is designed to equip graduates with hands-on experience in public sector legal services, compliance, governance, and legislative processes.
Interns will work under the supervision of qualified legal professionals and will be required to enter into a performance agreement. This opportunity is ideal for graduates seeking to build a career in public sector law and legal advisory services.
π KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide administrative and research support to the Legal Services unit

Assist with drafting and reviewing legal documents, correspondence, and reports

Support compliance with legislation, policies, and regulatory frameworks

Assist with legal research and interpretation of statutes and regulations

Support contract management and record-keeping

Participate in meetings and legal consultations as required
π QUALIFICATIONS
Education

LLB Degree or BCom Law
Experience

No prior work experience required

Basic understanding of South African legal and regulatory frameworks
