Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications:

• Minimum of Grade 12 (Matric).
• National Diploma in Catering and Hospitality Management from a TVET institution at NQF Level 6.

Skills & Competencies:

• Computer literacy is essential.
• Experience in ordering supplies, equipment, and inventory control.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Knowledge of food service setup, temperature requirements, and handling procedures.
• Skill in food preparation and presentation techniques.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
• Safe use of cleaning and kitchen equipment.
• Ability to lead and train students.

Job Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Handling:

• Follow HACCP guidelines for food safety.
• Prepare food for regular and therapeutic diets using standardized recipes.
• Portion, serve, and package meals according to diet lists.
• Assist in packaging and labeling special dietary meals.

Food Service Duties:

• Deliver food to hospital wards, ensuring correct serving.
• Collect and clean meal carts after service.
• Maintain cleanliness in food service areas, including dishwashing and waste disposal.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Handle dishwashing and utensil cleaning.
• Report faults, breakages, and issues in the Food Service Unit.
• Clean food service trolleys and work areas as per schedule.
