Company Overview:

KAMOA COPPER SA, a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%), and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%), is seeking a Logistics Manager. The Kamoa Copper Mine is a significant, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, located approximately 25 kilometers west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometers west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

Role Overview:

The Logistics Manager will manage and coordinate all shipping and clearing of inbound cargo to the site in the DRC, ensuring compliance with DRC and port country legislation. This role is critical for ensuring the integrity of all documentation to mitigate potential penalties and ensuring customs compliance, both in-house and with externally contracted service providers. The Logistics Manager will manage contractors and service providers, ensuring deviations are managed and remedial actions are in place to ensure the shortest lead times, adhering to Kamoa policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, customs regulations, policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Establish and maintain an effective and efficient projects logistics function.
  • Develop and manage exonerations lists.
  • Manage and coordinate projects logistics to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Drive effective problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Certificate in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Operations.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a logistics, supply chain, or operations environment. International experience is required.
  • Proficiency in French, English, and Swahili is preferred.
  • Experience in the mining environment is highly advantageous.

Advanced Skills and Knowledge in:

  • Supply Chain value chain.
  • Understanding of all relevant legislation.
  • Logistics – transport, import, and export.
  • ERP supply chain and inventory management systems.
  • Logistics software.
  • Sourcing and negotiation skills.
  • Coordination skills.
  • Customs and clearing legislation and processes.
  • Mining Code.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
