About the Role
This position is responsible for operating cutting and processing machinery within the TimberCity division and ensuring customers receive timber and board products cut accurately to specification. The role contributes directly to service excellence by offering fast, reliable customer support, maintaining operational accuracy, and upholding safety standards in a busy retail timber environment.
You will also play a key role in maintaining machinery, managing stock levels, and ensuring the cutting area remains neat, compliant, and efficient. Strong attention to detail, safe working habits, and effective communication with customers and colleagues are essential.
Key Responsibilities
๐ง Machine Operation & Maintenance

Perform daily machine checks and ensure machinery is maintained in optimal condition.

Feed timber and board materials into the machine safely and efficiently.

Adjust machine settings in accordance with required specifications.

Regulate the speed of the machine belt and ensure consistent operational flow.

Set and monitor temperature levels when required.

Conduct correct edge trimming, shaping, and sanding for customer orders.

Report operational failures, breakdowns, and maintenance issues promptly.

Provide prompt, friendly, and efficient assistance to customers.

Ensure all orders are accurately cut and prepared to meet customer requirements.

Assist customers with loading materials into their vehicles.
๐ฆ Stock & Housekeeping

Keep the cutting area clean, tidy, and compliant with safety regulations.

Identify and report stock shortages.
-
Support stock-taking activities and maintain accurate stock records.

Ensure timber and boards are neatly packed, accessible, and maintained in good condition.

Minimum Requirements
๐ Education

Grade 12 (Matric)
๐ผ Experience & Skills

Minimum of 1 year industrial or machine-operation experience

Strong administrative and numeracy skills
