About the Role

Prestige Clothing, part of The Foschini Group (TFG), is seeking qualified Machinists with advanced technical sewing capabilities. This role is essential to the production of high-quality garments that meet the exacting standards of TFG’s apparel brands.

As a Machinist, you will operate a range of industrial sewing machines, perform precision garment construction, and complete specialized sewing tasks that support the company’s manufacturing output. Your experience, technical skill, and ability to deliver consistent quality will play a significant role in delivering garments that meet both design and production specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a range of industrial sewing machines including plain, overlock, and specialized machines.

• Execute complex garment construction techniques with accuracy and consistency.

• Complete specialized sewing tasks such as:

  • Multi-needle operations

  • Buttonhole creation and button sewing

  • Collar making, fitting, and closing

  • Inserting zips

  • Waistband construction, attachment, and finishing

  • Placket making and application

  • Pocket construction and attachment

• Ensure all garment components meet quality and technical standards.

• Work collaboratively with manufacturing, quality, and supervisory teams.

• Maintain high productivity levels while meeting tight deadlines.

Minimum Requirements

• Qualified on plain and overlocking machines with five or more technical skills.

• Experience operating five different sewing machine types.

• Minimum 3 years’ experience within the NBC Clothing Industry.

• Proven ability to operate a variety of industrial sewing machines.

• Strong understanding of garment construction, finishing, and quality requirements.

• Ability to interpret instructions and follow sample specifications.

• High attention to detail and consistency in workmanship.
