JOB OVERVIEW

The Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for ensuring the safety, reliability, and optimal performance of company vehicles through scheduled maintenance, accident repairs, and emergency breakdown support. This role supports fleet operations by responding promptly to mechanical issues and maintaining vehicles in a safe, roadworthy condition.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform scheduled maintenance on trucks and bakkies

  • Repair vehicles involved in accidents to restore operational safety

  • Inspect, service, and replace brake systems

  • Monitor oil and water levels on fleet vehicles

  • Provide standby and emergency breakdown support

  • Repair damaged wheels and assist vehicles stuck in difficult terrain

  • Resolve mechanical, lighting, and basic electrical faults

  • Ensure vehicles meet safety and operational standards at all times


QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Matric / Grade 12 (Essential)

Experience

  • Experience in vehicle maintenance or mechanical support (Advantageous)

Skills

  • Valid Code 10 or Code 14 driver’s licence

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability

  • Good communication and organisational skills

  • High level of responsibility and reliability

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
