Job Overview

The Management Accountant will report to the Financial Manager and play a key role in supporting financial decision-making. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, analysing, and reporting financial data while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical and reporting skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform full accounting functions (management and financial accounting)
• Prepare monthly reports including flash reports and management accounts
• Compile interim and year-end financial statements and packs
• Prepare tax packs and ensure compliance with tax regulations
• Conduct monthly general ledger reconciliations
• Maintain and manage the general ledger, including journals and account setups
• Handle statutory reporting requirements
• Manage debtors and creditors functions
• Prepare budgets and forecasts
• Perform variance analysis between planned and actual results
• Liaise with internal and external auditors
• Respond to financial queries with detailed analysis and reporting
• Perform ad-hoc financial tasks as required

Qualifications

Education

• Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
• Postgraduate qualification or CA(SA) (advantageous)

Experience

• 3–5 years’ experience in accounting
• Experience in mining or manufacturing environments (advantageous)
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., JDE or similar)

Skills

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
• Ability to prepare financial statements from trial balance
• Knowledge of Income Tax and VAT legislation
• Advanced MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Strong analytical and numerical reasoning abilities
• Attention to detail and ability to multitask
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Ability to work independently and under pressure
• Excellent planning and prioritization skills
• High level of confidentiality and professionalism
