About the Role
As the Manager: Data Science/AI, you will be at the forefront of Capitec’s AI and advanced analytics journey. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Defining and implementing AI strategies that align with business objectives.
- Leading a high-performing team of data scientists to deliver impactful AI and machine learning (ML) solutions.
- Overseeing the development and deployment of AI models, ensuring they are scalable and aligned with compliance and ethical standards.
- Collaborating with business stakeholders to identify AI-driven opportunities and translate them into actionable solutions.
- Mentoring and guiding your team to uphold high standards in AI/ML model quality and operational excellence.
- Promoting a culture of continuous learning within your team, fostering innovation and keeping up with the latest developments in AI and ML.
You will have the opportunity to work on groundbreaking projects, driving Capitec’s data-driven transformation and positioning the bank as a leader in AI innovation within the banking industry.
Ideal Candidate Profile
✔ Experience:
- Over 5 years of experience in AI/ML model development and deployment.
- At least 2 years as a manager or team leader within an analytical team.
- Experience in managing senior and executive-level stakeholders, influencing decision-making at these levels.
- Hands-on experience with AI frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch, and proficiency in Python, SQL, and Pyspark.
- Practical experience integrating AI models into applications and services.
- Familiarity with big data frameworks like Hadoop and Kafka, and experience with Github or Git.
✔ Ideal Skills:
- Experience with AWS (Amazon Web Services) and cloud-based machine learning solutions.
