Internship Overview
The Marketing and Communications Internship provides hands-on exposure to public-sector marketing, digital communication, branding, and stakeholder engagement. The intern will support content creation, media coordination, digital platforms, and event communication while gaining practical experience in an organisational communications environment.
This opportunity is ideal for graduates pursuing careers in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or Digital Media.
Key Responsibilities

Assist with the execution of the organisation’s marketing and communications strategy

Contribute innovative ideas for engaging content across multiple platforms

Support the management of content across social media platforms and websites

Assist with drafting media announcements and press releases

Write, edit, and proofread communication materials

Create and curate content for social media, newsletters, and the organisation’s website

Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding

Coordinate and draft stories for internal and external publications

Maintain and update stakeholder contact databases and media lists

Assist with coordinating events, workshops, and promotional activities

Support stakeholder communication messaging

Perform administrative duties within the marketing and communications department
Qualifications and Requirements
Education

National Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification (minimum NQF Level 4)

National Diploma or equivalent qualification (NQF Level 6) in:

Public Relations

Communications

Journalism

Graphic Design

Or a related field

Skills and Competencies

Strong written and verbal communication skills
