Job Overview
Absa is looking for a Senior Specialist: Marketing Data Analytics to join the Research and Insights team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will lead the bank’s marketing analytics capability and use data to support strategic decision-making.
This role involves translating complex marketing and customer data into actionable insights, developing predictive models and managing marketing ROI programmes. The position is ideal for an experienced analytics professional with leadership experience and a strong understanding of marketing performance measurement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop advanced analytics and machine learning models to support marketing strategy.
- Use predictive modelling, clustering and marketing mix modelling to forecast performance.
- Translate complex datasets into clear and actionable business insights.
- Support strategic decision-making through scenario planning and data analysis.
- Manage the group-wide Marketing ROI programme.
- Work with external suppliers to implement attribution and marketing mix models.
- Monitor and report on marketing performance and return on investment.
- Design, maintain and improve interactive dashboards and automated reporting tools.
- Ensure data quality, integrity and governance across systems.
- Integrate multiple data sources to provide a complete view of marketing performance.
- Collaborate with business units and senior stakeholders on strategic projects.
- Lead and support a team while promoting innovation and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree, Advanced Diploma or BTech (NQF 7).
- Preferred field of study: Data Science, Business Analytics, Marketing Analytics or Marketing.
Experience
- 5 to 12 years of experience in Data Science, Business Analytics or Marketing Analytics.
- At least 3 years of people management experience.
- Experience managing marketing ROI programmes.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration.
- Exposure to digital marketing and omnichannel campaign analysis.
Skills
- Advanced data analysis and modelling skills.
- Strong understanding of predictive modelling and machine learning.
- Knowledge of marketing performance measurement and ROI analysis.
- Experience with dashboard creation and reporting tools.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
