Job Purpose
Join EThekwini Municipality as a Materials Assistant/Driver, where you’ll provide essential operational and technical support services to the laboratory. Your role will be crucial in ensuring smooth laboratory operations and field testing activities.
Key Responsibilities:
✔️ Assist with laboratory operations and procedures.
✔️ Conduct field and laboratory testing.
✔️ Transport staff, equipment, and laboratory samples.
✔️ Perform skilled and unskilled labouring tasks.
✔️ Implement safety measures, including setting up traffic cones and operating stop/go traffic control signs.
✔️ Maintain cleanliness of worksites, laboratory work areas, and equipment.
Required Competencies:
✔️ Technical Skills: Sampling analyses, raw material inventory, monitoring and control.
✔️ Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
✔️ Attention to Detail: Accuracy in laboratory and field operations.
✔️ Service Delivery Orientation: Focus on quality and efficiency.
✔️ Driving Behavior: Safe and responsible driving practices.
✔️ Resilience & Change Readiness: Ability to adapt to dynamic work environments.
✔️ Cognitive Ability: Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Minimum Requirements:
📌 Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) with Mathematics and Science.
📌 Valid motor vehicle driving license.
📌 1 year of relevant experience.
📌 Computer literacy.
Preferred Requirements:
📌 Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) with Mathematics and Science plus a Certificate in Construction Materials Testing or a related field.
📌 2 years of relevant experience.
