🏗️ About the Role

The Mechanical & Electrical Resident Technical Officer plays a key role in ensuring that all mechanical and electrical work on the healthcare project is executed safely, correctly, and according to approved specifications. Working closely with the Resident Engineer, Senior Resident Engineer, and Consultant Team, this role ensures technical accuracy, quality control, and consistent oversight throughout the project lifecycle.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

• ✔️ Assist the Resident Engineer and Job Manager with coordination and resolution of technical and design issues

• ✔️ Provide standing supervision when directed by the Resident Engineer or Consultant Team

• ✔️ Conduct routine site checks in addition to inspection requests

• ✔️ Identify and report unacceptable site conditions or workmanship

• ✔️ Collaborate with the project team to determine corrective measures and maintain proper documentation

• ✔️ Review construction drawings and highlight discrepancies between disciplines before installation starts

• ✔️ Ensure all work complies with approved drawings, specifications, and standards

• ✔️ Enforce safety requirements and promote a secure working environment

• ✔️ Resolve site issues promptly to avoid delays and ensure project milestones are met

• ✔️ Attend site meetings, inspections, tests, and commissioning activities

• ✔️ Maintain accurate site logs, inspection records, and signed documentation

🎓 Minimum Requirements

• 🎓 Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognised institution

• 🪪 Registered Resident Technical Officer with IES / ACES

• 🛠️ Minimum 8 years’ experience as an RTO on local projects

• 🏥 Experience supervising M&E installations for hospitals, healthcare facilities, institutions, or complex commercial developments (advantageous)

• 📘 Strong understanding of local codes, standards, and regulations

• 💬 Ability to confidently address technical questions from consultants and contractors
