About the Role:
Are you an experienced Mechanical Fitter looking for a rewarding opportunity with a leading global company? Sandvik, a leader in engineering and mining equipment, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our team in Kathu, Northern Cape. This role will require you to perform essential maintenance and repairs on Sandvik (Kwatani) screening and feeding equipment, ensuring optimal performance across our mining operations.
Key Responsibilities:
✔ Perform maintenance, repairs, and replacements of vibratory gearboxes, feeders, and screens.
✔ Meet daily output targets and report on progress.
✔ Organize and prepare the correct tools for repair jobs.
✔ Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to safety and quality standards.
✔ Manage assets and keep accurate records of service tasks.
✔ Provide technical reports and ensure adherence to job timelines.
✔ Perform installations, commissioning, and service duties on/off-site.
✔ Operate within health and safety requirements (OHS Act and Sandvik guidelines).
✔ Manage and execute tasks as per supervisor/manager instructions.
Qualifications & Experience:
✔ A minimum of 5 years of experience in the mining industry.
✔ Experience with screening and feeding equipment is an advantage.
✔ Completed Fitter and Turner Trade Test.
✔ Valid driver’s license.
✔ Basic understanding of vibrating equipment and engineering drawings.
✔ Ability to work under pressure and deliver results.
Skills & Competencies:
✔ Strong technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
✔ Ability to work independently or in a team.
✔ Good eye/hand coordination.
✔ Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
✔ Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
✔ Understanding of health and safety protocols in the workplace.
