Key Responsibilities

As a Medical Assistant at Sentara Health, you will perform a combination of clinical and administrative tasks under the supervision of healthcare professionals including Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Registered Nurses, or Licensed Practical Nurses. Your duties will include:

• Providing direct patient care and assisting with clinical procedures

• Handling administrative and clerical tasks such as patient scheduling and records management

• Ensuring a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff by adhering to safety protocols

• Assessing patient needs and assisting in developing action plans to improve care outcomes

Required Qualifications & Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Must hold one of the following certifications:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)

  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)

  • Certified EMT (EMT-B, AEMT, or Paramedic)

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire

• Minimum of 1 year clinical or administrative experience in a healthcare setting
