Programme Overview

The Nedbank YES Programme forms part of the national Youth Employment Service (YES) initiative, a business-led partnership with government aimed at reducing youth unemployment. The programme provides young people with valuable workplace exposure, skills development, and real-world work experience, significantly improving their employability after completion.

This programme is not a learnership, internship, or apprenticeship.


Key Responsibilities / Exposure Areas

Participants will gain:

  • Practical workplace experience in a professional banking environment

  • Exposure to daily business operations across Nedbank divisions

  • Development of workplace readiness, communication, and professional skills

  • Hands-on experience that enhances future employment prospects

Work placements may involve:

  • Administrative and operational support

  • Customer service exposure

  • Team collaboration and task execution

  • Adherence to workplace schedules, including shifts (where applicable)


Qualifications

Education

Applicants must have one of the following:

  • Matric (Grade 12), OR

  • Post-matric qualification:

    • NQF Level 5 (Higher Certificate)

    • NQF Level 6 (Diploma)

    • NQF Level 7 (Advanced Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree)

Experience

  • No prior work experience required

  • Must not have participated in a YES Programme before

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be 18–29 years old as at 1 May 2026
    (Born between 2 May 1997 and 1 May 2008)

  • Be unemployed

  • Be South African-born African, Coloured or Indian (as per BBBEE Act)

  • Be willing and able to travel to the assigned workplace
