Role Purpose
As an Occupational Health Nurse, you will provide a comprehensive healthcare programme to clients, ensuring compliance with all legal requirements while promoting workplace well-being and safety.
Requirements ✅
✔ National Senior Certificate
✔ Degree/Diploma in Occupational Health Nursing
✔ Certificates in Audiology, Spirometry & Vision Screening
✔ Valid Dispensing Certificate
✔ Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
✔ Registered with the South African Society of Occupational Health Nurses (SASOHN)
✔ Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Occupational Health Nursing
✔ Valid driver’s licence and own insured vehicle
✔ Proficiency in MS Office 365
✔ Strong understanding of the Health & Safety Act
Key Responsibilities 🏥
✅ Implement and evaluate a risk-based medical surveillance programme, including pre-employment, baseline, annual, transfer, and exit medical screenings.
✅ Oversee occupational safety, health, and waste management activities.
✅ Administer and follow up on Injury on Duty (IOD) cases according to company policies (including after-hours standby).
✅ Respond to medical emergencies within the scope of practice.
✅ Assist with workplace reintegration after prolonged employee absences.
✅ Detect and manage chronic diseases to maintain employee productivity.
✅ Offer consultations, counseling, and referrals when necessary.
✅ Provide advisory services to management and employees on occupational health matters such as absenteeism and sick leave follow-ups.
✅ Ensure compliance with occupational health legislation.
✅ Investigate and analyze trends in workplace hazards, implementing preventive measures.
✅ Promote workplace wellness through health education initiatives.
✅ Participate in internal and external audits.
✅ Manage ordering, housekeeping, and maintenance of health service equipment.
✅ Perform administrative duties, including data capturing and confidential record-keeping.
✅ Stay updated with industry knowledge and legislative changes.
