π§Ύ JOB OVERVIEW
The Occupational Health Nurse β Mining Clinics is responsible for managing and operating an on-site occupational health clinic within a mining environment.
The role ensures compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act while delivering clinical care, health surveillance, emergency response, and occupational health programmes that protect employee wellbeing.
π― KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage day-to-day operations of the on-site occupational health clinic

Provide primary healthcare, health surveillance, and TB/HIV testing and counselling

Implement and monitor occupational health programmes for mining operations

Maintain accurate, confidential medical and statutory records

Provide emergency care and coordinate referrals or evacuations when required

Conduct and participate in workplace risk assessments and inspections
-
Identify, investigate, and report occupational injuries and diseases
-
Compile statutory health and safety reports in line with MHSA requirements

Deliver health education and wellness initiatives to employees

Advise management on occupational health legislation and best practices
-
Ensure medical equipment and consumables are maintained and calibrated

Collaborate with SHE teams, mine management, and external health providers
π QUALIFICATIONS
Education
-
Registered Professional Nurse
-
Additional qualification in Occupational Health Nursing (SANC recognised)
-
Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
Experience
-
3β5 yearsβ experience in occupational health
-
Mining industry experience preferred
-
Proven exposure to health surveillance and workplace risk assessments
Skills & Knowledge

Strong knowledge of MHSA and OHS Act legislation
-
Occupational Health Risk Assessment (HRA) and Health Impact Assessment (HIA)
-
Clinical record management and reporting
-
SHE culture and human factors awareness
-
Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills

Computer literacy and medical systems proficiency
