Purpose of the Role:
Weir Minerals is looking for an Occupational Health Nurse to manage and administer occupational health services in line with company strategies. The role involves ensuring the wellbeing of employees by maintaining and executing health programs, while adhering to safety standards and legal requirements. You will be pivotal in shaping the health and wellbeing initiatives for our Isando facility, contributing to a healthier, safer workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
✔ Health Surveillance: Oversee and administer an effective occupational health surveillance program. Manage risk-based medicals such as audiometry, spirometry, and vision screening.
✔ Medical Assistance: Administer primary healthcare, chronic disease management, and wellness activities, including travel immunization for employees.
✔ Injury and Emergency Management: Handle injury-on-duty cases, manage emergency procedures, and assist with the return-to-work process.
✔ Compliance: Ensure all operations align with company policies, statutory requirements, and industry regulations.
✔ Stock and Budget Management: Manage the clinic’s inventory, ensuring adequate stock of medical supplies and keeping monthly expense records.
✔ Reporting: Provide detailed month-end reports and statistics to the Health and Wellbeing Manager and Regional SHE Manager.
✔ Workplace Inspections: Conduct inspections of the work environment, including canteen and ablution facilities, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
✔ Employee Support: Support and advise employees on health-related concerns and ensure the workplace promotes mental and physical wellbeing.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
✔ Qualifications: Grade 12, Diploma in General Nursing, Occupational Health Nursing, Audiometry, Spirometry, Vision Screening, and Dispensing.
✔ Registration: Registered with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse and Occupational Health Nurse. Must be registered with SASOHN as an Audiometrist.
✔ Experience: Minimum of 5 years working in an Occupational Health Clinic, including experience in disability case management and employee assistance programs.
✔ Skills: Solid knowledge of statutory legislation and RMA experience, as well as professional indemnity proof (SASOHN).
