Role Purpose:

We are seeking a dedicated Occupational Health Nurse to join our team in Isando. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of Occupational and Primary Health Care within the facility, aligned with Weir Minerals’ Occupational Health and Wellbeing strategy. This role offers an exciting opportunity to ensure the health and safety of employees while making a significant impact on the company’s health culture.

Key Responsibilities:

🏥 Safety First & Compliance:

  • Demonstrate a 100% commitment to safety and actively support a zero harm culture in the workplace.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct inspections of the work environment, including canteens, ablutions, and first aid boxes.

💉 Medical Surveillance & Employee Health:

  • Manage and administer a comprehensive occupational health surveillance program, including audiometry, spirometry, and vision screening.
  • Monitor the health status of employees through ongoing health surveillance programs.
  • Ensure risk-based medicals are completed, and manage injury-on-duty and emergency procedures.
  • Provide primary health care and chronic disease management for employees.

🩺 Injury & Return-to-Work Management:

  • Oversee the return-to-work process for injured or ill employees.
  • Manage disability cases and ensure compliance with the company’s disability management procedures.

📋 Administration & Reporting:

  • Prepare and manage monthly expenditure reports in line with budget guidelines.
  • Oversee the management of clinic stock, medication, and consumables.
  • Record and track health data using electronic data capturing and manual record-keeping methods.

🌱 Wellness Program:

  • Assist with the promotion and coordination of wellness activities in line with the company’s Wellness Programme.
  • Provide support to employees requiring travel immunizations and manage waste management programs for hazardous and biological wastes.

🗂 Record Keeping & Documentation:

  • Ensure all employee medical records are maintained with confidentiality and comply with legal and company requirements.
  • Compile and submit monthly health and safety reports and statistics to management.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

🎓 Education:

  • Grade 12
  • Diploma in General Nursing
  • Occupational Health Nursing Qualification
  • Certificates in Audiometry, Spirometry, Vision Screening, and Dispensing

📝 Professional Registration:

  • Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Occupational Health Nursing Practitioner.
  • Membership with SASOHN and certification as an Audiometrist.

💼 Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience in an Occupational Health Clinic, with a focus on employee assistance, disability management, and health surveillance.
  • Knowledge of statutory legislation and experience with RMA (Risk Management Assessment).

🔒 Additional Requirements:

  • Proof of professional indemnity insurance (SASOHN membership).
  • Ability to manage clinic inventory and medical supplies efficiently.
