Key Responsibilities

  • Safety First:
    ✔ Demonstrate a commitment to zero harm behaviors in alignment with Weir’s world-class safety culture.

  • Medical Surveillance:
    ✔ Administer and manage comprehensive occupational health surveillance programs.
    ✔ Monitor the health of employees through ongoing assessments, including audiometry, spirometry, vision screening, and biological monitoring.

  • Health Management:
    ✔ Oversee injury management, emergency procedures, and return-to-work protocols.
    ✔ Provide primary healthcare and manage chronic disease cases.
    ✔ Support wellness programs and manage disability cases.

  • Administration and Reporting:
    ✔ Prepare monthly reports, track expenses, and manage the budget in line with health and wellbeing objectives.
    ✔ Ensure compliance with company policies and statutory regulations.
    ✔ Maintain inventory and clinic equipment, including medications and consumables.

  • Employee Support:
    ✔ Support employees with travel immunizations and other health-related services.
    ✔ Attend health and safety meetings and provide regular feedback to management.

  • Facility Inspections:
    ✔ Conduct routine inspections of canteens, work environments, and first aid boxes to ensure proper maintenance and safety.


Qualifications and Skills

Education: Grade 12, Diploma in General Nursing, Occupational Health Nursing, Audiometry, Spirometry, and Vision Screening.
Experience: 5 years in an Occupational Health Clinic, including employee assistance and disability case management.
Registrations: Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Occupational Health Nursing Practitioner. SASOHN registration as an Audiometrist is also required.
Additional Skills: Knowledge of statutory legislation, RMA experience, and proof of professional indemnity (SASOHN).
