What You’ll Do

As an Operations Accountant, you will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, managing account reconciliations, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Recordkeeping and Compliance

  • Maintain and record all financial transactions in accordance with regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure complete audit trails are attached to reconciliations and invoices.

  • Address supplier queries related to payments promptly and professionally.

Account Management and Reconciliation

  • Maintain subsidiary and general ledger accounts.

  • Perform detailed reconciliations, including trial balance preparation.

  • Verify and post financial transactions with supporting documentation.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare accurate monthly income statements and management reports.

  • Analyze and summarize account data to identify financial trends.

  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial data.

Transaction Processing and Invoice Management

  • Raise and process invoices and payments within correct accounting periods.

  • Collaborate across teams to resolve discrepancies.

  • Prepare monthly journals (accruals, depreciation, cost allocations).

Process Improvement and Automation

  • Recommend process improvements and identify automation opportunities.

  • Manage and administer petty cash functions.


Requirements

Education & Training:

  • National Senior Certificate (NQF 4)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (e.g., BCom).

Experience:

  • 1–2 years experience in financial accounting roles.

  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word) and financial accounting software.

  • Experience with invoicing, billing, and working with various stakeholders.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong numerical aptitude and analytical thinking.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Effective communication skills – written and verbal.

  • High integrity and adherence to company values.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, reconciliation, and report generation.
