Internship Overview

The Provincial Operations Internship provides comprehensive administrative and operational exposure within Services SETA’s provincial offices. Interns will support reception services, office administration, stakeholder engagement, and project-related activities.

This role is ideal for graduates seeking experience in administration, public service operations, project support, and stakeholder relations within a structured institutional environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Uphold the professional image of Services SETA at all times

  • Manage the reception area in line with organisational quality standards

  • Welcome and assist visitors, including offering refreshments when required

  • Provide support to walk-in clients and visitors

  • Keep visitors informed of waiting times and service progress

  • Maintain cleanliness and order in the reception area

  • Report and follow up on maintenance issues until resolution

  • Answer and route incoming calls efficiently and professionally

  • Screen calls and manage messages accurately and timeously

  • Keep callers informed when placed on hold

  • Perform basic troubleshooting for minor office issues

  • Photocopy, scan, file, bind, and distribute documents

  • Provide typing and clerical support as requested

  • Receive and dispatch courier packages

  • Collate information for reporting purposes

  • Support Services SETA projects and initiatives

  • Assist with scheduling monitoring, evaluation, and induction visits

  • Prepare site visit and project reports

  • Provide additional clerical support for project activities

  • Assist with outreach programmes and stakeholder engagements on-site and off-site


Qualifications and Requirements

Education

  • National Senior Certificate or equivalent (minimum NQF Level 4)

  • National Diploma or equivalent qualification (NQF Level 6) in:

    • Business Administration

    • Public Administration

    • Project Management

    • Human Resources

    • Or a related field

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills

  • Professional communication and customer service ability

  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities

  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, scanning and filing systems)

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and within a team

  • Ethical conduct and professionalism
